Lavender Tea ♥

I trimmed my lavender bush today and was having the hardest time deciding what to do with the seed pods. I was debating between a lavender bath to heal my headache or sewing a quick satchel when it dawned on me…. tea. I am going to make my lavender into a tea.

First I boiled 8 ounces of water.

Then I added about 1 1/2 tsp. of the lavender into a cup…

…and poured the boiling water over it.

I let it seep for about 10 minutes,

…strained out the lavender with a sieve,

… & poured it back into my cup.

I added some ice just because its been so friggin hot around here lately.

I have to admit, you should probably just throw this tea down the hatch quickly because it tastes exactly as lavender smells. Nice as a scent, not pleasant to the palette. I suppose you could reduce the seeping time to lighten the flavor. I purposely made mine strong because I’ve had one killer migraine for weeks not and haven’t been able to sleep. Lavender is known to alleviate headaches and migraines, as well as induce sleep. Just what I was looking for!

And it works! Ladies and gentlemen, I had the best night of sleep I’ve had in months. I say that again. Best night of sleep in months. Its too bad I used the rest of my lavender to make some essential oils because I could really use some tea right now!
